Dominique Roger comes from a respected family of growers who have been making
classic Sancerre in the commune of Bue since the 17th century. More than
any other village in the district, Bue can produce the best Sancerre wines
if they are made from a blend of grapes from the two great terroirs of the
appellation both of which are found on the steep slopes above the village.
The terroirs are the pebbly calcarous soils of "Les Caillottes," which yield
delicacy, fruit and aroma, and the heavier clay soils of " Les Terres Blanches,"
which contribute structure, length of flavour and long life.
Following on from his father Maurice, Dominique took charge of the 12 hectares
in 1985. He and his wife Danielle are among the best vignerons, making exceptional
Sancerres, white, red and rose.
