Ratafia is the champenoise alternative to the more well-known aperitif of South Western France, Pineau de Charentes. Served well chilled, it makes a lovely summer aperitif, but we think that it really comes into its own in the winter. Sipped in front of a log fire, its fresh grapy flavours go well with dried fruit and nuts, and its 18 degrees of alcohol have a wonderfully warming effect. Ratafia is produced from a blend of Marc and fresh grape juice from the village of Bouzy.
